Carrie Williams a young woman from Glasgow Missouri died by self inflicted gunshot in Dillon Colorado. After her mother died she inherited five hundred dollars and traveled to visit relatives where she met Harry Evans a Denver actor. He spent the money on other women leading to a bitter quarrel and Williams shot herself. Her body was shipped to Glasgow for burial beside her mother.
A man at Rogers Park police station claimed to be William McKinley’s cousin and a marine engineer. He said poverty forced him to seek shelter and that his father was a brother of President McKinley’s father, but authorities caution the tale may be unverified.
Augustus W Peters president of the borough of Manhattan and former New York City official died suddenly in his home bath room after stepping from a bath. He was second in command in Greater New York.
Sart Lake Ava December 29 Joseph M Stout former president of the Utah Nation Bank was arrested on three counts for presenting a false statement of the bank's financial condition to the comptroller of the currency Bank Examiner Wightman filed the complaint.

Survived by his wife and three sisters in North Carolina. An 1892 wreck nearly cost him his life.

Chris Neil a former Van Fatten teamster arrived from the Jarillas recently and was found to have smallpox. He was removed to the smallpox hospital. Vaccinators later found three Mexican children in the household of an elderly washerwoman nearly recovered from the disease. A Herald reporter had alerted authorities days earlier, but the cases were hidden and unlocated.
Richard Fallon a well known city saloon man died last night of consumption. He was employed on the day watch by Si Ryan and had just returned from California before falling ill. The widow will accompany his remains to California for interment.
Street Commissioner Ed Wales activated two sprinklers at 1 PM today. He said they were not used yesterday because freezing temperatures would cause the water to freeze on impact.
The White Oaks Fuel company through its general manager J. F. Crosby Jr took out a building permit today to erect an office on lots 11 12 13 and 14 block 13 Campbell's addition at a cost of 70 dollars.
William Ramsey filed a deed conveying 98 acres to Porfirio Morelos in El Paso County. The transfer cites $1 and other consideration as part of the sale recorded in the district clerk's office today.
A Klondyke miner recalls late October prices: flour 16 per hundredweight, cornmeal 25 cents a pound, bacon 36 to 50 cents, beans 15 cents, rice 25 cents, baking powder 81 cents per pound, canned butter 450 dollars per pound, milk one dollar per pint, beefsteak 75 cents to a dollar, moose meat 60 cents, sugar 35 cents, potatoes 50 cents, green apples 25 cents, watermelons 25 each, cranberries and custard pies one dollar. He notes only two milk cows in Dawson, feed is high with hay at 400 per ton, and the owner is making money.
M. Mueller, a radical and current vice president, becomes president after Carl Schink's death. Born in Berne in 1848, he is a lawyer by profession with notable private and public success. He served as mayor of Berne, a colonel, and presiding officer of the house of representatives at the time of the president's death.
A $60,000 express robbery is reported in San Antonio Texas. Charles Beeler, an American Express messenger, disappeared after starting a wagon run to deliver money and valuables. The horse and wagon were found at 1 am today with Beeler unaccounted for and foul play suspected.
