Tragic Ice Shaft Accident Claims Two Men
In Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania John Agnew and Thomas Kennedy died when a rope jammed a mining bucket in the Allen shaft. The bucket descended hundreds of feet after the car moved despite signals. The rope snapped and the carriage fell about 450 feet. Both men were killed instantly.
