Congress in session as Towne sworn in in Senate

Towne of Minnesota was sworn in and joined the Democratic side in the Senate. Hanna offered a resolution to arrange inaugural ceremonies for March fourth. Hoar reported a bill for additional district judges. The Senate moved to executive session on the treaty. In the House, the District of Columbia bill was laid aside and appropriations faced passage. The judicial bill totals twenty four million dollars, a million less than last year.
