One of the largest exhibitions of poultry pet stock pigeons and dogs on the Pacific Coast opened in Oakland California under the Oakland Poultry association with help from the California Collie club and the Pacific Pigeon club. More than 3000 entries include dogs chickens ducks turkeys geese and pigeons with water fowl display noted as especially fine. D O Sanders Akersville public school teacher was killed on a road by five men Aker and Holland and his two sons after accusing them of burning the Akersville schoolhouse. A pursing crowd arrested the five men this morning.
In Washington Republicans caucused until 11 oclock last night debating the financial measure. Mr Overstreet spoke at length on the provisions and the group adjourned to reconvene this afternoon with no session scheduled for today as the House had adjourned until Thursday.
A war office dispatch from Gen. Buller reports one tenth of Boer dead at Belmont. He estimates total Boer casualties around Ladysmith through November 9 at eight hundred. In the Willow Grange engagement with Gen. Waite the Boers suffered thirty killed and one hundred wounded.
A Boer report from Dundee dated November 29 says Mafeking has fallen. Earlier advices from Mafeking dated November 21 described the town's condition as increasingly desperate.
ESTCOURT December 6 Residents return from Durban area after Boers appeared south of Tugela with fear driving flee and troops. Banks and all stores have reopened and town resumes normal condition.
Washington dispatch says Roberts of Utah is certain to be fired following Representative Taylor of Ohio who delivered a clear and convincing argument. The scholarly tone and decisive points left little doubt that Roberts’ dismissal is sealed.
Mrs Amelia Sanford a prominent Illinois W C T U worker and suffragist was found dead in her Bloomington room this morning, the cause given as apoplexy.

In Greaterville Arizona on December 4 Sheriff Wakefield and deputy Francisco Casanova hunted Luis Chavez for jail escapees. They spotted Chavez near Mary Kane ranch fired when he resisted surrender and killed him. Coroners jury exonerated the lawmen. Chavez had killed two men and his wife and child already.

Fernando Pardo, aged 80, seriously stabbed in an affray Saturday night, is recovering and likely to be discharged soon. The main assailant, Fernandes, remains confined in the county jail.
