Edward Trakhovee shot and killed his brother Kirk and Kirk's wife after a money dispute in a bake shop. He fled, was pursued by villagers, then killed himself. The incident occurred in New Milford, Connecticut, last night.
A conference in New York between whisky trust leaders and Kentucky independent distillers discussed a five year halt to hostilities. Production is to be capped at 20 million gallons annually, split between the groups, with aim of stabilizing prices and reviving the market.
President McKinley and wife with Vice President Hobart and Mrs Hobart reached Hollywood New Jersey greeted by immense crowd. Troop C of Brooklyn escorted the party as they head to Hobart cottage for celebrating parade and the planned review of the military tournament and athletic games this afternoon.

Washington officials refuse to discuss Dr. Edward Bedloe consul at Canton though admitting his suspension. He will return home and hurry to Washington on arrival. The department says charges do not affect his honesty and integrity. Bedloe is on sixty days leave and suspended until the investigation concludes. He was last heard from in Paris.
Manila dispatch reports the transport Ohio arriving in Washington on August 25. She sailed from San Francisco July 26 carrying companies C and L of the 19th U S infantry and recruits, totaling eleven officers and 726 enlisted men. Five sick were left at Honolulu. No casualties reported.
Governor Bushnell will bestow a silver service on the gunboat Marietta in Boston harbor ceremonies. Citizens of Marietta plan to attend and display large pictures of the old landmark.

Sheriff Batton arrived from Brownwood and brought back Frank Cannon, arrested in the valley by Captain Hughes. Cannon, from a respected family, is wanted on a warrant for theft from the person. He claims a twenty five cent theft. officers dispute his account.

Principal place is Tucson and the firm aims to mine copper gold silver and other metals and engage in related mining business.
City hall construction advances toward October 1 completion as workers plan to install the roof on Monday. The public will soon see the final appearance of the building.
A city resident reports heavy rain overnight reaching San Marcial and Las Cruces. Traveling by train, the journey endured two solid hours of rain as the ground became thoroughly soaked.

Two men, Tom Tisdell and Dan Sullivan, fought outside the Mechanics' Exchange on East Overland Street. The clash left both men bruised and bleeding. Sullivan toppled Tisdell and police officer Clements eventually stopped the fight. A sign post and night sign were torn from the Mexican Kitchen as the crowd watched.
Two Chinese men Yee Pon and Wong Wee Chow were arrested this morning by Captain Bloom for unlawful presence in the United States and are held in the county jail awaiting trial. Yee Pon arrived three days ago and was taken at Wah Hing's laundry. Wong Wee Chow arrived five days ago and was taken at Sam Gee's laundry. Chow's hearing is set for tomorrow. Pon's trial is indefinitely postponed.
In the Monte Carlo saloon case, C Van Belle Oscar Davis J H Hughes and Charles McArthur were discharged in the recorder's court after Cowans the accuser failed to appear. One witness remained, so the men were released.

Justice Spencer conducted an inquest into the death of 70 year old Joseph Acosta who was said to have died in his bed near the Santa Fe round house. The inquest ruled dropsy as the cause of death and noted he had lived in the city for forty years.
