Forged Return: Man Rearrested After Boston Release

James E Simpon, just released from the Massachusetts penitentiary for forgery, was met at the prison gates and rearrested by Belfast officers. He will be sent back to Belfast to stand trial on a similar charge for an offense dated 1599.

They Were Eloping, Die In River Drowning

Martha Bendix and Paul Warner, both 18, were drowned in the Current River at Poplar Bluff while fleeing a displeased father during an elopement attempt. Their boat overturned midway across the river as they tried to escape.

Four shirt waists stolen from Overland street shop

Max Schutz, a street merchant, reported last weekend four shirt waists were stolen from his store in front of the open door. A later sighting by a porter tied the thieves to two Mexican men. a Wednesday visit by three Mexican women ended with one scarfing a waist and claiming it was given by Manuel Montez, who fled to Chihuahua, as Officer Scott took the woman to the station.
