In Greenwich on April 30 Miss Helen Ripley Benedict daughter of Mr and Mrs E Benedict married Thomas Hasting of New York City at Second Congregational church. The chapel was decorated with palms and roses as a large crowd of society guests from New York Philadelphia Washington Boston and other cities attended. A reception followed at the Benedicts Indian Harbor home.

The Brazos river continues to rise slowly and an overflow is threatened about Sealy and Richmond. Corn in the bottoms is ruined and will have to be replanted. Negroes are leaving the bottoms.
