Vote on Direct Election of Senators Passes House
Washington April 13 the house after noon session voted on a constitutional amendment for direct election of senators. The majority report allowed state choice between legislature or direct vote while the minority required direct vote. Democrats with some Republicans swapped the minority for the majority by 135 to 30.
