William Heller of Newark New Jersey asked friends to act as pallbearers for his funeral, then committed suicide by asphyxiation in his parlor. He closed the door, stuffed the keyhole with paper, and turned on the gas, later being pronounced dead.
In Noroton Stamford Connecticut a Kee stung a pony drawing near the home of Judge Charles D. Lockwood causing the pony to bolt. Walter Lockwood Davenport and their friend William Bouton were thrown and badly injured. The boys are sons of the former New York assistant district attorney and partner of Homer S. Cummings.
Ira L. Kaetzel killed a copperhead in the Blue Ridge foothills. The snake measured two feet four inches, with two well formed feet about six inches from the tail tip. Legs three and three quarters inches long, feet round and twice the leg size, covered in hard gristle, preserved in alcohol.
San Francisco report states Mrs. George Voelker seeks a divorce claiming her husband was overly obedient. She testified quarrels ended when she ordered him from the home and he complied, describing a pattern of submissive conduct.
