The April issue of Impact by Exchange Bank and Trust Co. notes October housing starts at 80,000 units and a milder 2 percent drop in permits from September. It suggests the worst of the housing decline may be behind us as permits lead starts, and demand fundamentals plus improved mortgage credit point to a potential 1967 rebound.
Judge Carlton Jerry announced the Arkansas State Highway Department has assumed 11.56 miles of Union County roads. The west by pass from Williams Supermarket on Highway 7 to the Calton cut off to Highway 67 near Cozy Kitchen adds 7.4 miles. Also 4.16 miles from Old Union to Lawson, completed last week, brings total additions to about 31 miles in the past two years.
