Edward A. Albares director of the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission spoke at the El Dorado Desk and Derrick Club about a film titled Acre Oil and Gas produced by the Interstate Oil Compact Commission. The film noted oil and gas reserves are high and gasoline prices have declined. The commission was chartered in 1935 and has 33 member states. Members introduced included James Jones Murphy Oil Corp Jack Turner independent petroleum geologist and Joe Gilespie Monsanto El Dorado Chemical plant manager.

El Dorado High School hosts El Dorado Little Theater second season production Don Juan in Hell February 11 and 12 at 8 pm directed by Miss Jean McLaughlin. Robert B Smith, a local rising actor and Columbia Carbon lab tech, plays The Statue. Reservations via Hoff's Hobbies and Bass Clark Lumber.

Four El Dorado Students Named to All State Band
Four El Dorado High School students earned all state band spots after district tryouts at Warren. Terry Karlish on french horn Bill Rowan clarinet Sheila Smith bassoon and Shirley Smith baritone saxophone will perform March 6 in Little Rock at Robinson Auditorium. Two students Jack Slayton and Joe White were named first alternates. Slayton won honors on bass drum and White on trumpet.
