Adam Scherff Farm to be Auctioned in Probate Sale
An Omphlieot township farm held by a single family for a century will be sold at public auction on June 82 to settle the estate of Adam Scherff, 78, who died recently. The 181 acre farm, acquired from the government in the 1830s, is under probate and a partition suit. the sale is by court order with a sister and ten nieces and nephews to share proceeds, while only a small amount of personal property remains.

Three Madison County bridges on through routes closed for days are expected to reopen by Saturday, with repairs needed for about forty bridges countywide. Cahokia Creek Bridge on Route 112 between Edwardsville and Bunker Hill is among the three, along with two on detour routes near Route 160 by the Alton State Hospital. One bridge at Porkuyville and the Kippimoler bridge on Wood River forks also face repairs, while many minor bridges remain closed briefly. The Cahokia Creek piers were severely scoured, washing away about six feet of dirt around piling.

John Schileap Dies in Chicago After Operation
John Schillap died yesterday at 6 05 p m in Chicago at 62 years 3 months 16 days. Former Collinsville businessman, he returned there in April to visit daughter Mrs William Turner. After returning to Chicago he was operated on for carcinoma that caused his death. Survived by wife, one daughter Emma two brothers and three sisters in Germany, two daughters Ella Prentice of Chicago and Sophia Turner of Collinsville, and son Walter of Lincoln.
