United Fund Plans Interview For 1963 Drive Leader
The Edwardsville-Glen Carbon United Fund campaign advisory committee begins interviews to appoint a drive chairman for the fall. Hartford Barges Raised After Lightning Blamed
The National Marine Service Co began raising two barges that sank after a violent explosion at the docks on Monday. Four men were killed with bodies recovered: Bill Maggart and Charles Knight identified. David Sorgen and Earnest Kantner likely not found. A lightning strike was officially blamed for the blast amid heavy gasoline fumes and high pressure cleaning on board. Cleanup began Tuesday as debris and damaged equipment littered the area.
