Radio Corporation of America Licenses Renewed
Washington June 24 The Federal Radio Commission renewed the licenses of four RCA subsidiaries despite a 5 to 2 vote. The majority held the Delaware court ruling against RCA is not the intended basis for renewal under the Radio Act. Commissioners Saltzgman and Sykes dissented.

Post and Gatty Reach England After Atlantic Flight
Liverpool June 24 Post and Gatty landed the Winnie Mae at a sealand airdrome near Chester after crossing the Atlantic from Newfoundland and New York. They proceeded toward Berlin with a plan to circle the world in ten days, stopping briefly at Chester before resuming the flight. The crew left Harbor Grace Newfoundland at 2 27 P M yesterday and flew 2860 miles to Chester in 16 hours 33 minutes. Their start from New York was at 8 56 A M yesterday. The two service planes escorted them into Chester as officials wished them luck. A second report from St John New Brunswick noted the Liberty plane with Otto Hillig and Holger Holriss over the Atlantic, with no word yet received.

Lawyers Postpone Hearing On Claims In Probate Court
After a conference lasting over an hour, five lawyers pursuing two $25,000 claims against the estate of late Hamel Township farmer John H Smith agreed to postpone the hearing to July 16 in Madison County probate court. Judge George W. Crossman favored an early hearing or a September 15 continuation, and limited July and August cases. The court will stay on regular business and emergencies only to reduce summer inconvenience. One claim by Agnes Fromme of Modesto, NL, rests on a note dated June 15, 1927, due at death or in ten years, used to secure a $6,000 loan from Frank H. Lowe of Springfield. The note to Lowe is dated March 22, 1928, with a total past due of $5,564.17 as of October 22, 1929.

Major in the British Flying Corps 1918 veteran 7. K. Clarke visited Tid wardsville in search of his old friend Mr. Stafford. Clarke met C. A. R. Gendiet and planned to return for more information. In Greenfield Indiana the Simmons family gathered for a funeral service for Virginia 18 and Alice Jean 10 Simmons who died after eating sandwiches laced with strychnine at a Sunday picnic. Investigation paused pending further questioning of the girls’ parents.
Worden man burned by boiler at Edwardsville Creamery
Arthur Wolf of Worden suffered severe facial and arm burns when a creamery boiler back fired and scalding contents struck him. He was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Granite City for treatment.

Services for John Mollet Thursday in Grantfork Evangelical
John Mollet a longtime Alhambra area farmer died at his home Tuesday afternoon after nearly a year of illness. Funeral services will be Thursday at 8 pm at Grantfork Evangelical Church with Rev. Malkemans officiating. Burial will follow in Grantfork cemetery. Born March 31 1871 in Old Wripley he was 60 years 2 months 23 days old. He married Katherine Landolt January 29 1896 and is survived by his widow son Wilbur J Mollet brother Herman Mollet of St. Louis and sister Mia Emma Zobrist of Pocahontas.

Doolittle Crashes During Speed Tests
James Doolittle narrowly escaped death when his speed plane started falling apart at 250 miles per hour at about 100 feet. He pulled the nose up and bailed out, parachuting to safety as the aircraft was demolished. His son James Jr. watched. Doolittle previously survived risks in Cleveland air races and a Kansas City collision.
