Busiest Barbers in The Hillnogs Penitentiary
Joliet June 23 The busiest barbers in the world are convicts who shave and cut hair for fellow prisoners at Hillnogs State Penitentiary. Weekly they give about 500 haircuts and 3 500 shaves with 25 barbers in the shop. Warden H C Hill notes from May 1930 to May 1981 they performed roughly 210 600 shaves and 26 000 hair cuts. The eight hour day schedule yields a customer every 18 minutes.

CH Stuckwish Dies in Hospital at 61
Charles H. Stuckwish former Marine resident died Monday afternoon at St. Joseph’s Hospital Alton after a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 61 and had been a patient for three months. Funeral services set for Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Stockwish home Wood River with Rev Brummer of St John’s Evangelical Church officiating. Interment Lebanon Cemetery. He was born September 28 1869 in Marine and lived in Marine until moving to Wood River 11 years ago. Emma Buettemeier aged 76 years 10 months 24 days died at 7 45 am at daughter Emma Wolf's home south of the city after a long illness from complications. Born in Friedaburg Germany she came to America in 1871 settling in St Louis. Survived by three daughters Mary Renken Lena Paul Emma Wall and four sons Fred Erich Lois Rein hart 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A son and three daughters preceded her in death. Funeral plans not yet set.
