Worden Boy Dies After Operation at St Francis
Hen James Delmar Simons son of Mr and Mrs James Simons of Worden died at St Francis Hospital Sheffield last night at 9 following two surgeries to relieve a stomach trouble. Born July 12 1914 at Staunton he was 15 years 12 months and 9 days old. He attended Worden school and was in the county graduating class of June 8 and a May 22 tract meet winner. Survived by parents two sisters Mrs Ralph McBeaken Worden Mrs Lloyd Herder St Louis and brothers Charles Edwardsville William Worden. Funeral Sunday at 2 from family home to Worden M E Church at 2:30 Rev A N Norris officiating. Burial New Hope Cemetery.

Iron workers end five week strike in St. Louis
In St. Louis on June 22 agreement calls for workers to return Monday at 13 a day, up from 12, with a demand for 14. The 5000 plus building tradesmen, whose May 1 strike halted a 27500, six hundred dollar project, will resume work next week after ratifying the compromise last night.

Bankers Condemn Chain Banking System Adopted
In Aurora on June 22 the Illinois Bankers Association closed its session by adopting a resolution condemning chain or branch banking as likely to concentrate financial power in a few large city banks. A second resolution praised the Federal Reserve Board for attempting to correct and control the credit situation and curb stock speculation. Berlin reports Dr. Gustav Stresemann, German foreign minister, canceled a Reichstag speech due to cramps in his legs.

Joseph Miller dies after long illness on Springfield road
Joseph W Miller, prominent local farmer, died at his home on the Springfield road at 6 30 yesterday evening from heart and lung disease after about two years of illness. Funeral services will be Monday at 8 30 from the residence and 9 at St Boniface Church with Rev YJ Beichard officiating. Interment in St Mary's Cemetery. Born March 2 1861 in Edwardsville, he was 78 years 3 months 26 days. He lived on the same farm 63 years and married Albertina Ax on Nov 5 1879. Last November they celebrated their fiftieth anniversary. Nine children were born. three sons George J Mullery Liberty Prairie Andrew Miller and John Miller St Louis. one daughter Mrs Catherine Roberman St Louis. Surviving siblings include one sister Mrs Jos Gerstel of this city. There are seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Chief of Police Timothy Edward Kane of Collinsville died at his home on Vandalia Street after a two month illness. Funeral services are planned for Tuesday at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church with burial in the Catholic Cemetery. Kane, 64 years old, was brother-in-law to Mayor William Niehaus and survived by his wife Minas Mayme Dooner, one daughter Marion Kane, four brothers and two sisters.

Verdict in Theatre Fight Case Reaches Night Session
The Circuit Court jury returned a verdict in the five thousand dollar suit by Harry Edwing against Frank Kreider after a fight at the Collinsville Theatre on February 9. Testimony showed tension over management and alleged threats regarding burning the Nights and theatre expenses.
