Arby Hosto, of the Alhambra area, will be ordained at 3 p.m. Sunday at Salem Evangelical Church in Alhambra, becoming the first from the 60-year-old congregation to enter ministry. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Henry Hosto and joins five relatives already serving as Evangelical ministers in the South Illinois District.

Kennedys Get Short State Prison Term in Granite City
Mrs. Robert Kennedy of Granite City collapsed in the Madison County Circuit Court after her husband Robert Kennedy Bert Williams and Layman Dolan were sentenced to Vandalia State Farm for six months. They had faced a term of one year to life in the Southern Illinois Penitentiary at Chester after pleading guilty to petty larceny theft of tools valued at $100 from the George S. Mephan Paint Company on April 18. The group had no prior Granite City trouble, and withdrawal of the more serious charge was approved.

County Superintendent elect KF M Scott of Roxana and incumbent J BE Miller met to discuss closing Miller’s term and opening Scott’s. Judge Defers Sentence for Mexican Boy Today

Lanier Hotel Destroyed In Early Fire Sweep
The Lanier Hotel in Macon Georgia a historic 1835 landmark and former state leading inn was swept by a fire early today destroying the left wing of the 176 room structure and forcing about 150 guests into the street. The hotel once hosted Georgia government meetings during the Civil War era and figures such as Jefferson Davis were connected to its history.
