Daniel Grove Dies at 85 in Staunton After Illness
Daniel Grove aged 85 years and 16 days died at his Staunton home Sunday evening after over five months of illness. Born May 26 1844 in Greencastle Pennsylvania he moved to Illinois in 1865 to work as a filemaker. Surviving are his wife two daughters and three sons plus 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral at 2 pm Wednesday from his residence with Rev. A H Waegner officiating and interment in City Cemetery. Masonic Lodge to conduct graveside rites.

Mrs Bess Harlow wife of L L A Harlow of Granite City and daughter of Mr and Mrs Patrick Purcell is hospitalized with severe injuries after her car collided with Jack Williams vehicle at the Twentieth and Russell intersection. Her left hand was severely damaged and four fingers, part of the hand, were lost. her 65 year old child passenger escaped harm. Williams was not seriously hurt. Police and insurer Jos Ladd report Williams did not signal turning. Harlow attempted to pass as Williams entered the intersection. The Harlow car hit a telephone pole after the crash.
