Joe Evans of Granite City was found not guilty by a Madison County Circuit Court jury in the $10,000 suit of Andy Balgay who sought damages for four broken ribs and a broken leg suffered on August 24, 1930 during a fight. Rescue attempt ends with cat drowning in well
Mrs Charles Williams and her husband fell into a well while trying to save a cat in Mexico Missouri on June 13. The platform collapsed and both were swept into the water. The fire department rescued Mr and Mrs Williams but the cat drowned.

Calvin Alexander Scott 19 years old died at 5:30 AM at his parents 254 West Union Street Edwardsville after a nine week illness. Born November 6, 1911 in Edwardsville he lived there all his life.
