Henry Steinmeyer longtime city resident died Thursday at his home 1020 St. Louis Street after a yearlong illness. Funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday at the residence conducted by Rev H J Bredehooft. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Born March 8 1858 in Germany he came to America in 1870. Survived by sisters Sophia Christina Minnie Edwardsville and brother William Collinsville.

The Mechanics broke the game open in the sixth with eight runs, then added 12 in the seventh as the Mexicans managed two runs. The Autos finished with a 20 run burst in the next inning to reach 40.

British ship Shuben Acadia sinks after collision
New London Conn June 12 The British ship Shuben Acadia sank today with a cargo of liquor after colliding with the coast guard destroyer Davis about 50 miles south of Montauk Point Long Island. Rescue efforts by the Davis and the destroyer Marion were reported. exact collision cause remained unclear. The Shuben Acadia stayed afloat about an hour after the crash.

A Madison County certificate shows 180 blind residents on the aid list for the year ending June 30 1931 with total allowances of 47511. Under state law the county will be reimbursed about 28755.50 and warrants await funds. Mrs. Wilhelmina Koch of Glen Carbon died at her home Thursday at 3 17 PM after a 13 month illness. Born Wilhelmina Schultz in Staunton March 22 1885 she was 86 years 2 months 20 days old. Surviving are nine children and 16 grandchildren. Services set for Sunday at her son John Kochs residence then at the Glen Carbon Methodist Church with burial in Glen Carbon Cemetery.
