Madison County Farmers Repaid For Burned Straw
Springfield June 6 The House passed a bill to refund Madison and St. Clair county farmers for wheat straw burned in 1921 and 1922 to curb flag smut. The $5 042 appropriation will be divided among 68 farmers. it completes payments from earlier sessions. Names and sums listed include William Maasering 66 Frank Betz 100 and others, totaling the group’s restitution. The bill now goes to Governor Emmerson for approval.

Bus Crash Causes Damage and Injuries in Fairmount City
A Blue Goose bus driven by William Schwehr from Vandalla collided with multiple parked cars in Fairmount City. Six people sustained minor injuries. five autos were damaged. The Kennedy car was pushed into another, causing a broken arm to a woman occupant. The bus then struck three more vehicles, causing additional light damage toward Collinsville.

About 215 Edwardsville High School graduates attended the Alumni Association reunion at Helen Evangelical Church last evening. It was the forty third gathering with new graduates welcomed by President Frederick Sminger. Dan Dailey gave class of 1929 response and roll call. An orchestra provided music and a formal menu was served. Revisions were read by Mrs. Annie Burton as most classes were represented. The Resolutions Committee listed member deaths since the last meeting.
