Madison County Treasurer William T. Baird announced the county has paid $140,000 of anticipation warrants using tax revenues. The board authorized $190,000 in warrants, with $50,000 expected to be covered by delinquent taxes. The county also owes a $11,500 loan and has $42,042.09 in claims from a May meeting. Committees propose $69,308.24 in claims, including $25,810.97 for charitable purposes.

Dankenbring dies after two weeks illness in St Louis
Richard H. Dankenbring known as Dick died at Lutheran Hospital in St Louis after a two week illness. He was a janitor at the local Junior High for ten years and was born June 15 1878 in Pin Oak Township. He is survived by two sisters and one brother with services Sunday at Marks-Weber Funeral Home and Lutheran Church followed by burial in Bartlett Cemetery Pin Oak Township.

Authorities believe masked robbers shot elderly farmer Marshall Richardson and his wife to steal money then set fire to their farm buildings to destroy evidence.
