Fifty Illinois cities excluding Chicago show 120 percent valuation growth and 110 percent tax rise over a decade, with debt up 160 percent. Twelve cities are debt free, while many carry unsustainable burdens from pre 1860s limits. The piece laments rapid town formation, speculative growth, and costly improvements driven by new rail corridors, urging restraint and pay as you go budgeting.
Trustees Ed win P Greenwood of Bond County Illinois advertise sale of multiple tracts in sections 18 19 24 and 13 town 6 range 5 west of the third principal meridian with detailed bounds and acreages totaling about 51 acres plus adjacent parcels. The sale secures a note dated September 18 1874 and recorded in Bond County. The deed of trust to Edward Alonzo Valentine secures the note with no redemption and bidders will receive good deeds upon purchase February 1 1877.
The undersigned will reveal ida until the first day of March for furnishing all necessary supplies for the County Poor House including clothing bedding and medicines and medical attendance provisions and coffins.
