Wm. Schreiber Dies At Blue Island Fire Chief Helped Edwardsville Meet
William Schreiber died at Blue Island Illinois last Thursday after receiving a Christmas card. He served for years as chief of Blue Island Volunteer Fire Department. Thirty five years ago he helped Edwardsville host a major firemen gathering, bringing a coach load of men an equipment car and a band. Edwardsville residents later funded and presented a commemorative tablet still on display in City Hall.

Funeral services for Thomas Joseph Manion 88 lifelong Hamel Township resident were held at Straube-Schneider Funeral Home and St Marys Church. Rev C A OReilly officiated burial at St Marys Cemetery. He died Saturday morning at his daughter Mrs Walshs home. He married Hannah Halley in 1867. Ten children, twenty grandchildren and four great grandchildren survive. Pallbearers were six grandchildren.

Pilot D W Bufford of Columbus planned to land due to heavy snowfall. assistant pilot H S Zimmerman also from Columbus. Eight other passengers were uninjured, though shocked. The plane had departed St Louis late and arrived at 5 05 pm after circling the field.
