Madison County organizations postponed yesterday and today meetings due to impassable highways. The Madison County Bankers Federation delayed its Highland session and considers Marine or Highland for a later date. Two dairy feeding schools were reset, with one planned for Hamel township and another near Highland. An Edwardsville Alton basketball game was postponed for road conditions and will be rescheduled. Former Wyoming Governor George W. Seger died yesterday in a hotel in New York City after a long illness. He was 77 and survived by his wife and four daughters. The body will be shipped to Knoxville, Tennessee, for burial.

Madison County endures a major winter blizzard with hundreds stranded. State Patrol officer Frank J Probst reported Route 4 to open at 4 pm and Edwardsville Collinsville roads to reopen by midnight. Residents sheltered in farms and hotels, many fed by local farmers as supplies ran low.

Services Held For S Widicus Tuesday
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the family home and 2 o'clock at the Golden Evangelical Church for Samuel Widicus who died suddenly Saturday evening. Interment followed at Valley View Cemetery with Rev. H. Dredehoeft presiding. A large crowd attended with numerous floral offerings. Pallbearers included Mat Buchta John Weidner Gus Pape August Suke Paul Pilz and Lord Pfeifler. Out of town attendees came from St. Louis Highland Troy Lebanon and Collinsville among others.

Men Opening Roads Organize 100‐Man State Gang
State Patrol Officer Frank Probst organized a 100 man crew to clear routes from Edwardsville. About 40 men departed at 1 PM. the state pays 40 cents an hour. Work covers Route 4 west of Edwardsville and Edwardsville Collinsville road. Edwardsville Alton road progress allowed cars to pass this afternoon with help from Illinois Bell Telephone linemen.

Truck Driver Almost Fatally Poisoned By Gas At Drift
John Feldworth of 1102 Troy Road nearly succumbed to carbon monoxide fumes while attempting to free his truck from a snow drift on Route 4 west of Edwardsville. He inhaled exhaust while pushing from the rear. dizziness and a severe headache followed. Charles Henderson, Alton Brick manager, aided by bringing Feldworth home as fresh air revived him. a family physician later deemed his pulse normal. The victim remained confined to bed pending recovery.

Mrs Lily D Allen of 151 West Street died this morning at 8 30 from a complication of diseases. She was born in St Clair county on March 13 1882 and aged 42. She leaves husband Jacob Allen and they lived in this city for 19 years. Funeral services Sunday at 10 30 from the home and 11 00 from Mount Joy Baptist Church with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.

After collapsing, a passing autoist aided him to the Thies home where he died moments later. coroner ruled death from natural causes.
