Death man in highway train collision near Leroy
Joseph J. DeWald, 68, of Fort Wayne Ind, died after his sedan was struck by a train at Route St near Leroy. Lawrence Tyler, 20, an advance agent for Otto Gray Band Co, survived with injuries as the car was hurled into the yard. Coroner Edward Mercer led the inquiry with limited firm details from train crew. DeWald had traveled from Pittsburgh to Troy in under fourteen hours, and Tyler testified about speeds of 60 to 69 mph before the crash.

Funeral services for William Kuethe were held Sunday with 1:30 pm rites from the teldener on Buchanan Street to the Lutheran Church at 2:00 pm. Pallbearers included HC Withatta HH W Boeler L T Bocher Otto Slevers and others. attendees included Louis Kuethe family Dr A C Wiemers of St Louis and many relatives. Interment followed at the local cemetery.

Mrs. August Broeking, 71, a former Marion resident, died yesterday morning at her home in Marion Illinois after a paralytic stroke. Funeral services are set for Tuesday afternoon in Marion with burial there. Survived by siblings Louis Stahlhut and Mrs. William Kanning of this city, F A Stahlhut of Sedalia Missouri, and William of Marion, plus five children Henry Kruckeberg Mrs Gene Byery Henry H and August Broeking all of Marion.
