Woman killed in head on crash on National Trail

Residents of Greenville and St Louis travelers were involved in a fatal head on collision on National Trail west of Froy Saturday night. One woman aged 30 identified as Miss Lime Sullivan died from a broken neck and crushing injuries. Two others, including a child, Mary Helen 12, were seriously injured. Five others escaped with minor injuries as fire consumed one vehicle after the crash. The Hoiles and Botts families along with students Augusta Batchelor and Mildred Heid were in the other car. Verne Redfern, the chauffeur, and Mrs Botts were among the injured passengers. several were transported to Highland hospital and Troy for treatment.

Ejected Washington marchers push into Senate chamber

Washington Dee T Committes representing Hluncer WVoaarchers were forced from both Senate and House after attempting to enter the Senate chamber to plead for unemployment insurance. The protest led by Herbert ten jamin occurred on the Senate wing as attendants ordered him to stop. Also noted is the death of Judae Godard, 71, daughter of the late Daniel Valentine, with survivors including husband and former attorney general of King, three brothers and three sisters.

Governor Grants Youth Reprieve in Williams Case

Governor Louis Emmerson issued a 30 day reprieve for 17 year old Russell McWilliams who faced execution by electric chair next Thursday at midnight. The stay follows a petition by attorney BD J Knight of Rogkold Il, who said he would file an appeal to the Illinois Supreme Court. McWilliams was convicted in Winnebago County for the murder of 64 year old William Sayles, a street car motorman, during a holdup on theGal last August 28.

Chinese Troops Plan Defense at Chinchow in Manchuria

Gen Yung Chen Chan says 5 000 Chinese troops will defend Chinchow area after a potential Japanese attack. He told United Press that Beijing seeks peaceful settlement via Paris League talks and cautions against hostile action while hope remains. Bandit activity in the region noted, blurred with local police, and Japanese troop concentrations are viewed as a sign of a new drive toward Chinchow.

World Service Cultivation Program Speech Session

About 200 attendees from the East St Louis Methodist Episcopal district gathered for the World Service Cultivation Program at St John's Wood Church. Morning speakers included W H Whitlock and Dr J W Cummins. afternoon sessions featured Dean Ren Shen Yu Ninchan Henry French and Miss Theodor Clitam bar Jubbulpore. Bishop Edwin H Hughes of the Midwest M L Church was slated to speak at the evening session starting at 7:30.

San Diego Alienist Dee Harmon Dead at 80 in San Diego

Dee Harmon noted alienist died here after a long illness Saturday night at age 80. Formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, his brother Judson Harmon served two terms as Ohio governor. He leaves widow Cora Shaffer Harmon of San Diego and daughter VasCD Doethlefsen of San Francisco.

Italian elects head of BIS advisory committee

The Advisory Committee of the Bank for International Settlements elected Alfredo Beneduse of Italy as permanent president. Dr Walter W Stewart of New York declined the presidency. The committee, formed under the Young Plan to assess Germanys reparations capacity after the Hoover moratorium, may push for a supplementary world conference early next year.

Man Must Pay Bill or Go to Jail in Divorce Case

William Elliott of Wood River faced an order from Judge Jesse R Brown to pay a $53.05 fee tied to a divorce two years ago. Elliott was given until noon next Saturday to settle the amount with the county clerk, plus attorney costs and court costs for contempt. Memorial services honor Mother Jones at Mount Olue cemetery

Miners and union officials from all pits of Tinos attended memorial services for Waiv Jones known as the patron Saint of Jobor. The service at the miners cemetery honored her life and work, with Trink Pendee Taylorsville, former president of the Ohio mining workers, delivering the principal address. The cemetery also holds other miners killed in past mining accidents.
