Women to join Madison County Farm Bureau council
About a dozen Madison county women, wives of farmers, will sit for the first time on December 12 with the County Farm Bureau council to hear suggestions for agricultural adjustments. Ten members who attended an East St. Louis conference will join, with plans to form Ladies' Advisory and township committees. Possible shifts include replacing dairy and wheat with beef feeding poultry and truck gardening. Farm Advisor Raut will attend the Washington Outlook Conference in late January to obtain crop forecasts. The bureau reports 152 gold star members have joined, including a Northern Illinois businessman with land in Madison County.

Advertising plane promotes Wings at Wildey theater
A plane over Edwardsville at 12 45 pm yesterday dropped handbills for the film Wings to be shown Thursday Friday and Saturday next week at the Wildey theater. Pilot Harvey Glass, son of Will Glass of the Leclaire, and a Parks Airport flyer near East St Louis, piloted the literature carrier. Manager A J Foehrkalb could not explain how the craft gained a week on its trip. This marks the first use of a plane for advertising here.

Edwardsville Parent Teacher Association Formed for Hot Lunches
A group of Edwardsville women organized the Edwardsville Parent-Teacher Association at the City Library. Officers include Mrs. R. J. George as president and Mrs. E. L. Burroughs as vice president. The group plans to provide hot noonday lunches for public school pupils with cooperation from the Civics Committee of the Monday Club. Membership dues are 50 cents yearly, with a structure for associate status if dues are not paid. The association will join state and national organizations and draft by-laws at the next board meeting.

Death by natural causes for John H. Smith
John H. Smith, 89, died at his Hillsboro road home north of Edwardsville from natural causes after several days of illness. Deputy Coroner B H Weber led the inquest with Mrs Smith as the sole witness. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 pm from Ullishoro road residence, Rev J G Tucker officiating, burial at Quercus Grove cemetery.
