Port of Edmonds seeks peace with Corps over moorage policy
Port of Edmonds commissioners send a resolution to the U S Army Corps of Engineers offering to reopen moorage to all in exchange for the corps resuming maintenance of the south breakwater. The 1961 agreement tied open moorage to maintenance by the corps, a policy long contested by residents and prompted by a lawsuit from out-of-district applicants. The new commission supports opening moorage while acknowledging the corps has yet to decide on the draft proposal, with repairs expected to begin this spring if approved.
