Snohomish deputy cleared in 164th Street accident

State Patrol and Snohomish County prosecutor find no criminal conduct in the February 27 crash on 164th Street where a sheriff's car struck 9 year old Jason Boggan on the sidewalk while responding to an assault with a deadly weapon. The deputy was traveling 56 mph in a 35 mph area and was under emergency operation. The civil suit potential remains separate.

Trolley Fare Set for April 9 Demonstration Project

The Community Transit Board approved a 10 cent fare for the Trolley Demonstration Project a six month trial leasing two trackless trolleys. One will operate in Edmonds downtown as a circulator and the other for county wide special events.

Die in demonstration underscores DWI deaths

About 400 Snohomish County students gathered beside Everett Memorial stadium to dramatize drunken driving deaths. Mariner High senior Russ Dickson and Lynnwood High sophomores Natalie Dow and others died in each other’s arms while aid cars and police surrounded the scene. Students said the display aimed to deter drinking and driving and to set an example for peers and families.

Council votes for development along 164th S.W.

Snohomish County Council unanimously amended ordinance 26 B to allow limited commercial growth along 164th Street as long as developers fund a master road improvement program. The change, debated by residents and officials, preserves safety aims while restarting the permit process amid planned lane and signal additions.

Lynnwood Edmonds School Board Eyes 2.6 Million Deficit Cuts

The Lynnwood Edmonds School Board studies a deficit reduction plan to trim a 2.6 million dollar district shortfall for 1986. A 1.8 million dollar cuts list was reviewed, with 35 to 40 certificated positions at risk, mainly at the secondary level. Final approval of reductions is set for April 29 after a April 22 work session.
