Topics include the laymen's part in soul winning and the place of Baptists in evangelization. Speakers include D A J Bell J T Littlejohn Charlie Jones Rev J P Mealing P B Lanham P P Blalock and D E Lanham. A missionary sermon will be preached by Rev J T Littlejohn.
An edgefield union meeting of the first division will convene at Bold Spring Baptist Church on Saturday and Sunday September 28 and 29 with 10 45 devotional services led by the moderator 11 00 delegate enrollment and church reports followed by five queries on education attendance youth opportunities missionary motives and present day opportunities. Sunday offers Sunday School addresses and a missionary sermon. Also notice new Burst turnip seed varieties for sale.

A fire Thursday afternoon at the Chaingang Camp destroyed two tents and Capt. Sawyer’s personal effects. The camp lies near Mr. F. U. Zimmerman’s ginnery. The blaze was spotted by gin workers. Capt. Sawyer and guards were miles away at work when the fire started. The tents likely caught from a wagoner’s pipe or cigarette. No blame attached to Capt. Sawyer or county employees.
The college reopens with about 80 young men and 40 young ladies expected on the first day. Opening exercises at 10 o clock in the auditorium with several addresses. Town patrons urged to attend. Nearby Aiken plans Cotton Sales Day on October 8 to attract cotton and buyers to boost prices. 355 bales pledged. Local merchants advocate daily sale days to lift market prices and draw active buyers to Edgefield.
A September 28 set apart as a work day by local denominational orphanages calls on all residents to contribute one day's labor or funds. Mothers encourage children to work and donate earnings to orphanages, while merchants promote sales of Lipton coffee, rubber tires, Hawkes spectacles, and Crockery.
