In Carrollton Mississippi Special report says Sheriff A C McDougall died after being fired on by Bob Myers a black man charged with petty crimes. Posse and bloodhounds search for Myers amid fears of a lynching.
Griffin special report: 18 year old Harry Lassiter shot and killed his father William Lassiter a 50 year old painter at their Griffin home shortly after 1 am Sunday. Coroner held an inquest and Lassiter was held on a murder charge. He pleaded self defense saying his father came at him with a knife.
Wadesboro North Carolina reports Elis Hightower shot and killed his mother on the porch during a drunken spree. After the crime he cut his own throat and died next morning. Hightower noted for illicit liquor dealings. his brother plans to open a saloon in Wilmint after January. Also Governor Glenn returns to Raleigh with a possible legislative settlement on the 214 cent passenger rate dispute with the Southern Railway. Details remain incomplete.
A Chattanooga Gas company plant explosion shortly before 3 o clock left four workers burned and three missing. The blast followed by fire was caused by a lighted match dropped over an open jet in the purifying department. Injured named are B A Broder Dan Hemmill and Henry Hemmill plus an unknown Black man.
A majority of telegraphers on strike since August 11 will resume work Monday in Birmingham under Western Union and Postal conditions similar to those at the time they went out.
