Major General Henry Sewall a Revolutionary War veteran and social patriarch died at his Augusta home last week at age 93. He joined the army in 1775 and served until 1783, was acquainted with Washington, and was briefly on his staff. Letters from Washington were in his possession.
News from Vera Cruz reports Baron Allege de Cesprey’s passports granted after insult disputes, while Paredes moves toward the northern frontier with thousands of troops. Revolt in Tabasco persists. Defenders’ enlistment falters, and the Santa Anna faction favors delaying war with the United States amid political turmoil.
