Revival at Baptist church ends with 25 additions

Johnston notes a two week revival at the Baptist church led by Rev. Fuller ending Friday with strong results. More than twenty five joined church, merchants closed early, high school attended, and the Sunrise prayer meeting planned for Victory Sunday as part of the 75 Million Campaign. Birthday Dinner Surprise for Mrs Dorn in Greenwood

On Thursday October 2 Mrs Lucinda Dorn celebrated her birthday with a large family gathering in Greenwood. Relatives from Ware Shoals Pleasant Lane and nearby towns joined eleven grandchildren to share a long table feast of oysters chicken salads pies and cakes. A farewell to autumn followed as the crowd enjoyed a sunny day on the creek with grandchildren playing and candles decorating the birthday cake.

Work Day Set by Edgefield Baptists for Orphanage

Next Saturday November 25 is set apart by the Edgefield Baptists as Work Day for the Connie Maxwell Orphanage. The church and Sunday school members are urged to engage in definite work or contribute a day’s earnings to the needy institution caring for orphan children. Bring offerings to Sunday school on Sunday morning.

November Civic League Meeting Proceedings and Plans

The November Civic League met at the Library and approved minutes. Treasurer reports over one hundred seventeen dollars raised by the Community Fair. Cemeteries to be cleaned. December to be a social meeting with a silver offering for library needs. Plans for Mrs. Edgerton’s visit and a 1928 fair include cosmos entries and a publicity drive to attract county participation.

Edgefield Teams Triumph in McCormick Contests

Edgefield girls beat McCormick 20 to 18 in a clean basketball game led by star Alice Prescott. Edgefield boys routed McCormick 67 to 0 on a rough field with Wright scoring five touchdowns and the reserves adding two more as McCormick was held scoreless.
