Women of the South in War Times honor Abbeville chapter
The Abbeville chapter celebrated gains from its meeting with two new members and a presentation of the book Women of the South in War Times to the town library. They sent good cheer to veterans and ill neighbors and pledged donations to the Jefferson Davis memorial Cunningham fund and Secession Hill marking project. A Thanksgiving box will go to the County Home. Mrs. Strother was elected state convention delegate, Cox alternate. A historical program closed with a paper on South Carolina’s role in the War Between the States by Miss Frances Turner.
