President Eamon De Valera telegraphed a Montreal mass meeting honoring Terence MacSwiney and his comrades. He said they died vindicating personal and national liberty, questioned Canada’s support for Britain’s Ireland policy, and charged Lloyd George with hypocrisy in relation to Flanders deaths.
Secretary of War Baker returned from a western tour with pro league independents saying universal public desire for official peace exists. He cited support for a league of nations and noted no election prediction, noting Democrats claim 295 to 236 for Harding but electoral shifts could alter the result. He planned a Cleveland speech and observed vote by mail.

The Governor of South Carolina orders a special election for November 9 1920 in the area proposed to be cut off from Edgefield County and annexed to McCormick County. Polling place is Daniel McKie’s residence with commissioners to arrange, publish, canvass, and certify results. Ballot asks if the area should be cut off with Yes or No.
