Death of Mr Pearce Lowry in Columbia hospital
Mr Pearce Lowry son of Mrs America Lowrey and nephew of Mr J T McManus died in a Columbia hospital Tuesday from liver cancer. His body was taken to Good Hope church Saluda county for interment Wednesday. He had been postmaster at Eastover and lived in Eastover for years, with many friends in Edgefield and the county saddened by the news.

McKendree Church Holds Children’s Day Observance
On the third Sunday in May McKendree church held a well attended Children’s Day with a prepared program and floral decorations. Speakers W L Nicholson and Rev Mr Murray of Greenwood addressed the crowd in the afternoon. Farmers plan grain harvest and post boll weevil worries, while planting sweet potatoes. Mr J M Shaffer, once ill, is now able to be out. The infant son of Zonnie Dorn died two weeks ago. the family receives sympathy.

Be Square: Edgefield High School Baccalaureate Sermon
The Baptist church hosted a townwide baccalaureate service for Edgefield High School’s eleventh grade. Rev. A. T. Allen spoke on the four square life, a practical uplifting message echoed by choirs and an orchestra during the offering. The class motto for 1922 was Be Square.

Tragic Death of David Johnson Shocks Trenton Community
The Trenton area learned of the death of 22 year old David Johnson after an accident near Edgefield. He died Tuesday night after surgery at University hospital. Funeral and interment were in Stellaville Georgia with many locals attending. He leaves a wife and two young sons.
Graduating Exercises Edgefield High School Celebration
Edgefield High School held graduation exercises Monday evening with four girls and three boys receiving diplomas. Salutatory by Robert Outts and valedictory by Corrie Cheatham highlighted the program as W. O. Tatum Jr led the event and J. O. Van Meter delivered the address.
