Monument Unveiling Honors Gen John B Gordon in Atlanta
Thousands of Georgians and visitors gathered at the Georgia State Capitol grounds in Atlanta for the unveiling of a Gordon Monument. Governor Terrell presided, General Evans spoke, and sculptor Solon Borglum was introduced. The statue, cast in copper bronze, depicts Gordon in reviewing pose, placed on the northwest capitol corner.
