Edgefield Advetiser announces subscription terms two dollars fifty cents per year if prepaid three dollars after six months and four dollars after one year. Papers continue unless ordered otherwise. arrearages must be paid before discontinuation. Subscribing five subscribers earns one year free. Ads priced at 75 cents per square for first insertion. 87 cents for continuances. Communications postpaid receive prompt attention.
Headline order from Charleston dated April 12 1845 lists multiple infantry and cavalry regiments with scheduled reviews and drills. It names units including the 44th 20th 29th 30th 28th 21st 22nd 25th 24th 6th 26th 27th 40th 54th 37th 35th and more, with parade sites at Summterville Swimming Pens Darlington house Bennettsville Chesterfield Lancasterville Camden Winnsboro Winnsbridge Youngsville Chesterville Rich Hill Yorkville Wilkins field Union Court House Green's Springs etc, plus encampment periods and general officer instructions.
The Southern Baptist Convention met in Augusta with about 300 delegates from Maryland Virginia North Carolina Georgia Alabama Louisiana Kentucky and the District of Columbia. Officers were chosen and a committee appointed to report resolutions. The second day covered debate on unity and possible Southern separation from the Triennial Convention, ending with a call to form a Southern Society and a constitution for a Southern Baptist Convention to oversee foreign and domestic missions.
