Mrs Elizabeth Miller Bettis Dies After Brief Illness

Mrs Elizabeth Miller Bettis, aged about eighty, died at her Pine House home near Trenton after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at Ebenezer Church with Rev Graves L Knight officiating. She is survived by two sons J F Bettis and J M Bettis. she was one of Edgefield’s oldest residents and a long time Ebenezer Church member. Burial followed at Ebenezer Cemetery.

At a council meeting the town unanimously approved building a 40 foot iron tower with a 180 barrel tank atop the public square to supply water for sprinkling streets and firefighting. Stewart and Kernaghan donate their profits for the project. gasoline engine pumps water from the well and a ram may be added near Beaver Dam if needed. The system aims to keep about 6000 gallons on hand to cut insurance risk for nearby property.
