The Gigefield Advertiser announces its 1835 establishment with J. L. Mims as editor. The paper is published weekly in Edgefield South Carolina at $1.50 yearly in advance, second class matter, and will publish cards of thanks obituaries resolutions and political notices at advertising rates.
A county business leader denounces reports that our government payments for services were excessive. He praises the paper's handling and urges readers to ignore such gossip, asserting no honest person believes the accusations.
Prof W E Entzminger and family visit on their way to Aiken and announce the B M I Glee Club will perform at the Edgefield Opera House Monday May 6 at 9 o clock. The 16 voice choir with four cornets and string orchestra will play for war relief with 35 and 25 cent admission in support of patriotic causes.
Last Saturday Mrs. T. R. Blackwell was seriously wounded by a shotgun discharge. While moving items in a closet the gun fell and fired causing a flesh wound to her left side. She was taken to Augusta Hospital and has steadily improved. Her father Mr. F. E. McClendon and relatives have remained at her side.
