Auditor Haltiwanger sought interpretation on poll tax exemptions. The Attorney General states that being maimed does not exempt one unless unable to earn a living. those aged 21 to 60 must pay unless explicitly exempt by law. A doctor’s certificate cannot exempt. physicians are too lax in issuing such certificates.

Miss Gladys Price Hosts Pleasant Friday Evening
In Johnston miss Gladys Price hosted a cheerful gathering Friday evening as several townsfolk attended. Messrs. G. P. Coll and Alvin Owden have been ill but show signs of improvement. Mrs. W. J. Huret visits Savannah then plans to see her son. The Baptist church held daily Home Mission prayer meetings with 30 to 40 ladies joining each afternoon. A memorial event for Fanny Crosbie featured hymns and a life sketch by Mrs. Lewis, raising about twenty nine dollars for the treasurer.
