Clemson College closes its Short Course for Club Boys with seventy six certificates awarded by Director W W Long. Emmie Cartledge Leaves Corner Store After August First
Edgefield welcomes Emmie Cartledge as she moves to The Corner Store on August first after fourteen years in the same shop. She began with J. M. Cobb, then Rives Bros., and most recently E. S. Rives, earning a reputation as an efficient and agreeable worker. The Six Club boys who earned places on Clemson College Short Course teams include Roy McCombs Abbeville Province Branham Kershaw M Calvin Moore Greenville Carl M Smith Anderson James C Garrison Pickens Boyd Blakely Lancaster. Boyd Blakely won the Radiolite watch for best all around record from P. H. Sanders Southern Ruralist. The group returned home Friday and Saturday with resolutions praising Clemson College for the course. Little Lena Wells celebrated her thirteenth birthday with a daytime party at her home on Wednesday July 22. A large group of invited friends enjoyed ice cream and cake, colorful pink and white decorations, and greetings from relatives and neighbors including Mr. E. J. Miller and Mrs. Miller.
