Nine Foreigners Die in Tidewater Railroad Explosion

A Richmond special to The Times reports nine foreign laborers were killed by a dynamite blast Saturday near Pearlsburg Virginia on the Tidewater Railroad. They were at dinner when an amount of thawing dynamite exploded in front of a fire. The bodies were found mangled and buried in a ditch.

Dover Fire Kills Four in Mill No 1 Disaster

Four young mill operatives died and a fifth is presumed missing after a disastrous blaze at Mill No 1 of the Cochéedo Manufacturing Company in Dover New Hampshire. The fire, started by belt friction in cotton, trapped workers as exits clogged, with daring rescues by firefighters and a half million dollars in property loss covered by insurance.

West Virginia mine disasters: 12 dead in Lorenz explosion

Special-Five Americans and seven Italians are reported dead from a fire damp explosion at the Pennsylvania Company's Lorenz mine in Buchannon vicinity. About 5:30 Saturday evening the blast collapsed the mine, entombing an estimated 100 miners. Twelve bodies recovered include five named Americans Charles Boseman William Bailey James Scott Charles Johnson Glenn Miles and seven Italians identified only by numbers. The victims were found roughly 100 feet back. most died of gas as no bodies showed burn marks.

St. Louis capitalist J. P. Fife dies suddenly at St James

J. P. Fife, noted St. Louis capitalist, collapsed in the St James hotel lobby Sunday about 11 o clock. Friends nearby summoned Dr. Beherns from the Southern Hotel but he could not save him. Dr Beherns said death was probably from a heart attack but could not be certain.

Roanoke Woman Seeks 10000 Damages For Husband Death

Special Mayor Joe P. Cutehin, representing Mrs. Edward Carper, filed against Roanoke Railway and Electric Company for 10000 dollars in damages for the death of Mrs. Carper's husband by electric current. Mrs. Carper herself was injured similarly, and a suit may follow.

Damage to Connecticut After Reefing Incident at Culebra

Reports from San Juan claim the battleship Connecticut sustained a forward indenture about 50 feet long after running onto a reef entering Culebra Island harbor. Supposedly 7000 feet of lumber and 300 barrels of cement were used to halt leaks as a court of inquiry investigates the accident and apportions responsibility.
