Edgefield Methodist Church Suspends Services Indefinitely

In response to the influenza quarantine Edgefield Methodist Church shuts all services. Members are urged to send quarterly offerings to treasurer J. D. May ahead of the February 2 conference in Trenton. County agent Addison B. Carwile promotes government soda blanks available at banks or with Sam Nicholson ahead of January 25 deadline.

Dear friends the family receives word that Johnnie Tillman Bailey will soon be discharged and return home from service in Columbia South Carolina on December 4 1918. The commander A J Schaefer writes praises his duty discipline and character and notes government pay and three months optional wear of the uniform upon return. Camp Jackson and the 42nd Regiment are cited with gratitude for his service and the nation’s future depends on his reintegration as a citizen and soldier.
