Two Negroes Murdered in Meriwether Farm

Winthrop College held its annual field day on Monday April 7 drawing about two thousand attendees. Judges traveled from Columbia Spartanburg and Massachusetts. The senior class won the cap for highest score and York county school children joined the event. Last week fifty Yale graduates from the class of 1885 visited, arranged by Mr. Robertson of Columbia. On Wednesday afternoon Winthrop hosted a reception for the Medical Association meeting in Rock Hill with Dr. R. A. Marsh among the guests.

Gone For Joe Grant As High Court Hears Appeal

Very Fine Oats Show Promising Yield This Year
The Advertiser reports Dr. W. E. Prescott received the finest oats of the year sent by him and notes an Augusta seed purchase from Judge Hammond. The four acre field stands around six feet tall with an estimated 75 bushels per acre yield and harvest three weeks earlier than common oats. Prescott paid $3.00 per bushel and has orders for nearly all seed. Farmers who viewed the field seek seed for fall sowing.
