Farmers Bank Reports 25th Annual Meeting Dividend

The Farmers Bank held its 25th annual meeting with a prosperous year. A 12 percent dividend was paid, with retained earnings totaling 68,350.70. Deposits stood at 263,669.67 and loans 350,499.94, of which only 20,000 was borrowed capital. Officers Padgett Rainsford Harling Byrd re-elected along with all directors.

Bank of Edgefield reports strong year and dividend

The Bank of Edgefield closed its business year with a 10 percent stock dividend and additions to surplus bringing undivided profits to 34 680.34 dollars. Deposits totaled 218 318.82 dollars, loans 294 672.10 dollars, and borrowed money 130 000 dollars. Officers re elected included J C Sheppard as president B K Nicholson as vice president E J Mims as cashier and J H Allen as assistant cashier. Directors were re elected with Wallace O Tompkins added to the board.

Death of Dr Robert L McKie in Augusta Hospital

Dr Robert L McKie died after a two week illness in an Augusta hospital on March 29. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev P B Lanham. He leaves a wife Georgia Harris and seven children. The Advertiser extends sympathy.

Edgefield High Names Winners in Spelling Contest

Edgefield school authorities named Ouida Pattison and Fred Mays as the winning boy and girl from grades seven through high school for Field Day representation. Neta Outts and Douglas Timmeyman named substitutes. An April 17 declamation contest in the high school auditorium will select Columbia delegates, with several musical numbers and a small admission fee. Field Day activities set for Friday April 7 with baskets encouraged.
