A compact digest of state and national items including Ferris Fauly and Pauly, Milwaukee tax debates, Pike's Peak rail plans, a G.A.R. encampment in Milwaukee, and local crimes and cor- respondence. It covers tariff talk, newspaper ethics, and notes on schools, elections, and public notices amid mixed local reports.
The Wisconsin W C T U Home board of managers held sessions in the city on Wednesday and Thursday. The board includes two representatives from each congressional district and seven local ladies. Only three outsiders attended from Milwaukee Fond du Lac and Spencer. City representatives include Mrs H C Howland Mrs Sarah Brown Mrs J T Tinker Mrs M B Wyman Mrs B J Whereatt Mrs L A Doolittle and Dr Annette J Shaw. On Wednesday afternoon it was decided that all inmates should be sent in by the district representative and drawn from the unions as before. On Thursday committees were formed.
A piecing contest at Hugh Quillen’s Madison Street shop invites purchases of four dollars in goods for a chance to win prizes. Seed counting by a committee determines first prize of 45 pieces of Delph ware and other awards. Winners announced March 17 with multiple consolation prizes including dress, pants, washtub, tea kettle, and more. Hean McQuinnen listed as contact.
