Epworth League members hosted an evening event on the Methodist church lawn from 4:00 to 10:30 with representation from all town churches. Contests entertained participants and sixty seven meals were served with ice cream and cake afterward.
Yesterday afternoon Mrs FR G Geeler hosted the Thursday Bridge Club at Mrs Salliy Westmoreland's home with two guests Mendaines John Beat and Howard Witsgerald. High club score won a perfume bottle for Mrs Jenne Adaims and a guest prize a bandkerchiet for Mrs Beard. Refreshments served to a long list of members. Next week the club meets with Mrs B L Beckman. All fruit trees on J J Burger’s Lakeside Drive farm failed in the drought but he plans new plantings and irrigation next year.
Mrs. G M Jackson of Garwood returns home from St Louis where she was called by illness and death of her father Mr Jackson. She met him in Houston on her return.
Dr Walter Koelz a leading expert on White Fish sails with the MacMillan Arctic Expedition aboard the Bowdoin to collect fish birds and mammals for the National Geographic Society He authored a vast White Fish catalog from American waters and discovered new species his work aiding Lake Agassiz theories He plans to preserve specimens using alcohol formaldehyde gas drums and skinning methods then return them to the United States for taxidermy and study
