The community mourns the sudden death of Mrs. W. M. Thomas Sr at Laughlin Hospital after a brief illness. Services set for Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Colly Memorial Methodist Church with Rev. Harold S. Goodenough officiating. Interment at the Masonic Cemetery. pallbearers include nephews Leslie and Henry Sunderman Harold Ralph J R and Dr R R Thomas. Mill Bauer Funeral Home in charge.
The new Thomas Food Market at Lissie was robbed early Sunday. Owners Mr and Mrs Edwin Thomas estimate about 1500 dollars in merchandise stolen including shotgun shells jackets clothing frozen goods and cigars A cash register left open then locked was taken and found later along the road damaged. Wharton County officers under Sheriff Mike Flournoy pursue three suspects with prints and footprints found at the scene.

Skelly Oil Company spurred a new Colorado County oil gas area six miles north of Columbus with the Kollmann Al well off Farm Highway 108. The well on a 40/64 choke reportedly has a potential 10 million cubic feet daily capacity and sits 7500 feet west of Sinclair Emma Hastedt No 1. Sinclair plans four new locations about 1500 feet from its current well toward Skelly.
The Rock Island Parent-Teacher Association schedules a Halloween Carnival on October 31 starting at 6 p.m. in the school gym with games, concessions, a costume parade, a fish pond, and other entertainments plus pie and coffee in the cafeteria.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Montgomery Davis a longtime community resident were held Sunday October 23 1955 at the Episcopal Church with F Parke Smith officiating. A Southern Pacific train reaches Coliseum by 2 00 p m for the afternoon show with tickets through local Shrines and schools. Proceeds aid the Shriners hospital program with refreshments and entertainment by Jodie Bradens Orchestra.
